Lowndes County

SMAG Dance Collective's first successful full feature ballet done in contemporary style, depicting the clash between a modern day mixed couple and the cultural values of a small town in Lowndes County Georgia. The ballet is based on a true experience, but the story is told in hilarious SMAG style and is set to various music genres including swing, jazz and hip-hop. Enjoy the characters depicted in caricature like style as they dance their way into and out of trouble with the comical, but loveable sheriff of Lowndes County.

New for Halloween 2009

SMAGMARE

It will be a spooky night in the theater. Ghost and goblins will be creeping and crawling all over the place. No one is safe from "IT." SMAG introduces for 2009 a Halloween ballet. It is a first ever performed by a contemporary dance company in the Dayton area. Fun for everyone, it's a show that is not for the faint at heart. SMAGMARE is sure to delight and will woe new audiences to its lair.

USS Indianapolis

SMAG's most dramatic ballet is a tribute to those who serve on the USS Indianapolis on the fated day of July 30, 1945 when the ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in the Philippine Sea and sank in 12 minutes. Of the 1,196 men on board, approximately 300 went down with the ship. Those who survived were left afloat in shark-infested waters with no lifeboats, food or water for four days. It is a ballet done in contemporary style, appropriate for people of all ages. While it is a special tribute to those who served on the USS Indianapolis it's a tribute to service men and women who serve today and throughout the history of our country.
